I am a mother of four in my seventh year of homeschooling. While I'm a nurse by trade, I left my position in my hospital position in 2021 to be a full-time stay at home mom and co-op director. I enjoy being a photographer on the side, so you can often find me with a camera hanging around my neck. My favorite thing about co-op is seeing the hand of God on it and looking back with clear hindsight to see how he used some of the hardest times in my life to bring it to fruition. I feel the Lord calling us to go deeper and deeper in Him every year, so I am looking forward to all the ways he teaches and guides us as we teach and guide the children.
Hospitality Coordinator: Meghan Seginak
Hi, my name is Meghan, my husband Dale and I have 3 kids (16, 9,1) and have been homeschooling for the last 6 years! Homeschooling was not originally on my radar. One day I visited a church for their Tuesday kids’ crafts day. It turned out to be all homeschooling families! I quickly learned all the benefits of being a homeschool family. It wasn’t long before we joined a co-op to help us on our journey. We also recently purchased an RV because we plan to fully enjoy the freedoms homeschooling offers. My goal as the Hospitality Chair is for you and especially your children to feel right at home when you walk through our doors. I will be the person who gives you a tour and helps you show your children the ins and outs of what co-op looks like with Freedom! Being with these families is the highlight of my week and I will do my best to make it the same for you! Your family has unique needs, as we all do. As we learn and grow together- Let me know if there is ever anything I can do to make your experience at Freedom peaceful and positive!
Policy Administrator: Elyse Wells
In 2016, I left my oncology social work position to become a full-time stay-at-home mom to our son. Little did I know that a few years later, we would embark on the journey of homeschool. It has quickly become not just an educational choice, but a lifestyle. As a family we love to camp, hike, kayak and explore nature all around us. It has been such a gift to experience everyday life together and to see God’s fingerprints all over everything. When we joined Freedom Homeschool Co-Op, so many things exploded for us – being able to learn and grow with friends and an expanse of our community. Not only has our son’s community grown, but mine as well. The friendships I have cultivated here have made an impact on my life. The calling of parents in our current world is heavy, and the prayer, camaraderie and investment of these other parents has been a game changer. I hope that all new parents that consider this group would feel the same encouragement our family has.
Curriculum Facilitator: Marvin Selonke
Hi, I’m Marvin and have been married to Kaitlin for almost 14 years. We have twin daughters that are playful, loud, rambunctious and such a blessing. Our family is just beginning our 3rd year of homeschooling and are loving the experience. Homeschool has always been on our radar and I knew some amazing homeschool families through the church, but it was kind of last on our list for a while. We just didn’t imagine what it could look like. As we learned more about the current world and learned more about the beauties of homeschooling our list flip-flopped on us. We could also feel the Spirit of God calling us to walk this path. Mark 8:36 says, “ For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” We fully believe one of our greatest callings is discipling our children in the knowledge of God and homeschooling provides more opportunity for it. When we are not at COOP our family loves to play sports, explore, travel, and be around water whenever possible.
